Living History:  Civil War Encampment
Saturday, July 17
Join us on the Hart House lawn where members of the Fourteenth Regiment of the Connecticut Volunteer Infantry will portray the lives of ordinary citizens who participated in Company G of the Union Army.  The regiment will set up a typical campsite and demonstrate the skills needed by soldiers at that time.  Historical documents reveal eight brave lads from Saybrook joined Company G in 1862. Step Back In Time
Sunday, August 15
15  “A Step Back In Time”: Celebration of Saybrook Colony’s 375th Anniversary presented by Old Saybrook Historical Society.  Afternoon, 1:00 – 4:00p.m. family fun featuring games, tours, demos, hayrides, plow pull, barn-raising, historical characters in period costume, story telling, fife and drum, weavers, spinners.  Tentative family fee, $10-children accompanied by adult, free.  Refreshments served.  Evening event starts at 6PM wine and beer served; 7PM Summer Supper cooked onsite served buffet style under a tent.  Music.  Charge TBD.  1698 Bushnell Farm, Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook.  860-388-2622, 860-395-1635 or saybrookhistory.org
