Attached to the historic 1767 General William Hart House is our Exhibit Gallery.  Opened in 2005, it has showcased numerous summer exhibits:  Old Saybrook in the 1950’s; “Slavery in Old Saybrook”; watercolors by Society member Pat Osborne; and “The Other Harts”, a presentation of 18th and 19th century Hart women of Old Saybrook.

The 2010 summer exhibit , “A Step Back in Time”, focuses on the 375th anniversary of the founding of Saybrook Colony and the August 15th celebration.  Visitors will see a display of activities to be held at Bushnell Farm, view the senior project completed by one of our student volunteers, Chiara Scarpelli, plus art work by Old Saybrook students that focuses on the town’s history.  Exhibit opens June 19.

The exhibit is open weekends in June, July and August. .  The Exhibit Gallery is another wonderful reason to tour the historic Hart House and reconnect with the rich history of Old Saybrook.
